Lyn Mynott

Lyn Mynott founded Thyroid UK and is our Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Board.

Lyn has worked as a secretary to solicitors and probation officers in her early working life and after her first child was born, she became a bank manager’s secretary.

Prior to being diagnosed with hypothyroidism she trained to become an English teacher, teaching English to both adults and children from all over the world and English grammar to UK adult students and their children in local schools.  She also taught cake decorating.

These skills have helped her in her work as CEO for Thyroid UK.  You can read her full story here

Peter Warmingham

Peter is a long standing trustee of Thyroid UK.  After 39 years of service with Rolls Royce as an Electronics Engineer, he brings a technical approach to thyroid problems.

In 2010 he wrote a hypothesis paper entitled “Effect of Exogenous Thyroid Hormone Intake on the Interpretation of Serum TSH Test Results” which was published by the late Dr J C Lowe in his on-line journal Thyroid Science.  This attracted the attention of endocrinologist Professor Rudolf Hoermann, a leading thyroid researcher, and Mel Rowe, an American thyroid patient.  This lead to Peter co-authoring a paper written from the patient’s perspective entitled “The Diagnosis and Treatment of Hypothyroidism” – this paper resides on the Thyroid UK website.

In September 2017, Peter represented Thyroid UK at the NICE scoping workshop for the guideline on Thyroid Disease.

At present, Peter’s main interest is the much needed paradigm shift in thyroidology.

Peter is married and lives in the East Midlands.  In his spare time he enjoys choral singing and is a long standing member of the East of England Singers.

“I support Thyroid UK because they provide the right information people need to regain their health. I assist Thyroid UK in preparing patient information.”

Jo took early retirement in early 2019, with the intention of spending more time actively supporting charities and giving something back to the community.

“Having a family who experience a number of thyroid conditions, I know how difficult it is to get diagnosis and appropriate medication.  In the past I have benefitted from the support and guidance provided by Thyroid UK and want to use my experience in audit, governance and technology, to help further increase Thyroid UK’s ability to lobby for, and support, others.”
