NHS Digital is the national provider of information, data and IT systems for commissioners, analysts and clinicians in health and social care.
NHS Digital:
- operates and develops IT systems
- collects, processes and publishes data
- ensures organisations meet information and security standards
They support the health and care system and help patients make informed choices about their care while ensuring their data is kept safe.
NHS Digital holds data on “Indicators” which allows organisations to measure and benchmark progress toward goals.
You can find official statistics on these indicators in their catalogue of publications. NHS Digital publishes over a thousand publications covering things like quality, complaints and outcomes of treatments.
Most of their publications can be browsed through their catalogue which contains the official statistical publications produced about health and care in England as well as results from surveys, audits, reports and other statistics. These publications are based on data from health and social care providers which are produced for, and used by, a number of organisations, bodies and individuals for things such as health research, resource planning and improving services.
